What are collective vacations?
As we mentioned above, collective vacations consist of a period of rest granted to the entire company or to all employees in a sector. For the company, it represents a time to reduce operating costs in periods of low productivity.
For employees, it represents the possibility of rest and that there is no vacation overload. If everyone goes on vacation at the same time, no one needs to cover for their colleagues, right? Collective vacations can be 30 consecutive days or be divided into two parts, each of which must last at least 10 days.
How is the employee’s compensation on collective vacations?
Regarding remuneration, collective vacations are seen as normal vacations. This means that an allowance of 1/3 of the value is added to the conventional salary. This vacation calculation must be done observing the length of the day off.
Therefore, an employee who takes 15 days of collective vacation should receive an additional 1/6 of the normal amount of his salary. The payment must include all deductions and additions related to the INSS, FGTS, additional payments and gratuities for each employee.
Collective holidays: check out 10 tips to take advantage of this period
Now that we’ve explained what collective vacations are and how the remuneration works, we’ll present tips for you to make the most of this period.
1. If you can, take a trip
Are your finances up to date? If so, it’s interesting to consider taking a trip to relax. It doesn’t have to be far away, it could be to a nearby beach or even to visit a friend in another city. What matters is breathing new air to return with recharged energies.
2. Log out
Since the company is on collective vacation, you can and should disconnect. During these days off, avoid opening your work email and replying to messages from colleagues (some may not disconnect, but don’t follow this example).
Remember that this is a normal vacation and that means you shouldn’t be working. You can mute groups of work messages and stop opening professional apps.
3. Do series and movie marathons
Are you guilty all year round because you don’t use the streams you subscribe to? Yeah, this is your time to catch up on marathons. Your choices can be made according to the top 10 most watched for each service or according to your personal taste.
The coolest thing is that you can spend a long time watching your favorite stories, the next day you don’t have to wake up early. But, don’t forget to keep some social and physical activity time.
4. Hang out with your friends
Couldn’t travel? Don’t be upset, because you can still take advantage of your collective vacation to go out with friends you barely get to see throughout the year. Make an appointment and attend that coffee shop with your childhood friend. Take that walk in the mall with your friend from the gym, in short, enjoy this period.
5. Take up a new hobby
Learning something new is always welcome, especially if it has nothing to do with work. So, during this period of collective vacation, it is interesting to dedicate yourself to a new hobby , such as learning to play an instrument, taking pictures, drawing, making MDF pieces, among others. The most important thing is that you relax while doing this activity.
6. Take time to do nothing
It seems obvious, but not everyone realizes that the vacation period is for resting, that is, for doing nothing. These periods of leisure can be comforting and fundamental for you to be ready to return to activities.
If you are leaving a very stressful work routine, we recommend that you spend the first few days of vacation doing nothing significant. This period will serve to recover your energy.
7. Take the time to read
How about reading those books that you bought on internet sales and are closed until now? During the holidays you can encourage your reading habit and keep it even when you return to work.
In these days of rest you can read more pages awakening that dormant passion. When you go back to work, remember that reading for ten minutes a day is all it takes to get back into the habit.
8. Discover new places
This tip applies both to those who can travel and to those who will stay in your city. If you are traveling, take the opportunity to “tourist” and see new scenarios, thus enhancing your creative capacity. However, if you’re going to stay in your city, organize yourself to visit places you don’t know yet.
9. Plan your future
The vacation period is ideal for planning your future, you can rethink how the cycle that is closing was. How was your last year at work? Did you conquer everything you wanted? How can you make your work more meaningful? Set goals for this new period that will start when the collective holidays are over.
10. Evaluate how you are managing your time
Finally, take advantage of your vacation to analyze how your time management is going . Are you able to fulfill all the day-to-day tasks or do you feel like hours are missing? If you have this “shortage” of time, consider that the problem may be how you organize routine activities.
Rethink how you are organizing your life and consider making changes for when you get back to routine. In this period of rest, the tendency is to see everything more clearly, being able to make relevant changes.
